Egmont Leather & Canvas Company Ltd, founded in 1962, became known as Elco for short. When Terry and Lynley Knauf bought the company in 1990, they kept the abbreviated name.
In 2000, Elco expanded into heating, after the distinctive log frontage attracted the attention of Metro Wood Fires. We now sell the Metro Pioneer range of woodfires. Check out their extensive range on display year around!

Terry has been in the canvas trade since 1977 and the six staff at Elco brings a wealth of combined experience to the business.
After 34 wonderful years in business, Terry and Lynley Knauf have sold Elco Canvas & Heating and gearing up for retirement. They have loved their time here and are now ready to hand over the reins.
Gavin and I would like to take the time to express our sincerest gratitude to Terry and Lynley for this amazing opportunity. We, the new owners, are lucky enough to have them stay as we transition and guide us the way forward into the future of Elco Canvas Solutions Ltd.
Gavin is already a valuable team member here at Elco Canvas. He's been here a few years now and knows his way around fairly well. Gavin comes with an Engineering background with 25 years experience. His skill and knowledge along with his good sense of humour adds to the team spirit here. You can expect the same customer service, care and workmanship as our friendly team are all here to stay. Keeping the family feel here, we've extended our staff to 10. Having a family owned business is important to us giving opportunity and Growth in all aspects.
Hi, I'm Jaydene. I have joined the team here at Elco Canvas. I have been in the customer service/ retail sector for well over 11 years now. I have loved my roll working alongside the people of Taranaki. Some exciting times ahead for us in our new roles.
